What is scrying?
Scrying is an ancient art of divination, a mystical gateway through which seers and wise ones peer beyond the veil of time. By gazing into a reflective or translucent surface—be it crystal, water, mirror, or flame—the scryer stills the mind and opens the inner eye. In this sacred trance, the mundane world falls away, and symbols, visions, and whispers of the unseen emerge, offering glimpses of hidden truths, forgotten pasts, or possible futures.
These are different types of scrying:

Crystallomancy Crystal ball Probably the most iconic form, involving a polished crystal.
Catoptromancy Mirrors Using standard or black mirrors (especially obsidian) for visions.
Lecanomancy Bowls of water/oil A form of hydromancy, especially reading ripples or reflections.
Capnomancy Smoke Interpreting shapes and movements of smoke (often from incense or fire).
Pyromancy Fire or flames Staring into fire for symbols, patterns, or messages.
Ceromancy Melted wax Pouring wax into water and interpreting the resulting shapes.
Alectromancy Rooster Pecking patterns- watching where a rooster pecks at grain.
Scapulimancy Burned animal bones Analyzing cracks in shoulder blades or bones.
Oculomancy Eyes Gazing into someone’s eyes (or your own reflection) to induce visions.
Emaptomancy Blood Ritual scrying involving blood—usually symbolic, and not commonly practiced.
Bibliomancy Books Opening a book at random and interpreting the passage. (often sacred texts)
Alomancy Ink in water or bowls Gazing into dark ink for visions.
Nephelomancy Clouds/sky. Watching the sky or clouds for patterns or omens
